by Shashank Nakate

The information about turtle habitat of various species is provided in the article below. One should find some useful information needed to care for these delicate sea creatures.
The habitat or place where a particular organism grows up, plays an important role in its development. Turtles are sea creatures and are amphibious in nature. These reptiles belong to the superorder Chelonia and order Testudines. The turtles need both, dry conditions and water to survive and develop. Different turtle species have different requirements, depending on their particular habitat. It is therefore, necessary to understand and perform research on the original habitat of a particular turtle species, if one is thinking of raising them in aquariums. Information about water turtle habitats is provided in the article below.

Information about the habitat of few important pet turtle species like the Painted turtle, Box turtle and other types is provided in the following paragraphs.

Green Sea Turtle Habitat
These turtles, as their name suggests, live in sea waters. Eggs of these turtles are laid on beaches. Until the time, these turtles reach maturity, time is spent near the coast in shallow waters. There is abundant growth of sea grass in areas with shallow waters. Such environment is required for the nourishment of Green Sea turtles. Adult turtles spend most of their time in convergence zones of open oceans. The green turtle is amongst the endangered species of the world. The information about loggerhead sea turtle habitat should also help understand more about these sea creatures.

Painted Turtle Habitat
The Painted turtle is found in different types of water bodies like ponds, lakes and streams which move at a slow speed. It also needs muddy and shallow water for hibernation. During hibernation, Painted turtles respire by means of their skin. These turtles go in search of food during the morning hours (of warm seasons) and rests in sun light in the afternoon. The painted turtle requires both, dry and wet conditions to thrive and this makes it a high maintenance pet. Knowledge about the Painted turtle life span should be useful.

Box Turtle Habitat
The outdoor environment is suitable for box turtles. One should avoid keeping these turtles in a glass aquarium. These creatures tend to get restless or, in worst cases, frightened by the activities that they observe from glass walls. One can think about using indoor and outdoor containers/enclosures for box turtles. Wooden boxes or Rubbermaid tubs are used for keeping these turtles in an indoor environment. For an outdoor environment, care should be taken to see that the turtle gets enough space, shade and sun light. If possible, arrangements for a pool, deep enough for the turtle to swim should be made. It is therefore, necessary to take great care for maintaining these turtles as pets.

Aquarium Turtle Habitat
Water is an important factor which needs to be considered in the process of caring for aquarium turtles. Taking a particular organism away from its natural habitat and keeping it in an artificial environment demands great care on part of those who look after and carry out their maintenance work. Here is some useful information on pet turtle care. Turtles are not like any other pets, and definitely not suitable for handling by children. They need regular exposure to ultraviolet light. It is therefore, necessary to buy those expensive bulbs, designed specially for producing UVA and UVB light. Maintaining the water quality is important, and this can be achieved by means of regular cleaning with the use of an efficient filtration unit. Information about snapping turtle habitat and care should be useful. Get more information on water turtles as pets.
